Faster parsing and selective extraction of structured records

Can specialized parsing extract required fields faster while preserving a clearly specified validation contract?

The question

Can specialized parsing extract required fields faster while preserving a clearly specified validation contract?

This is a proposed research direction. No novel algorithm, completed benchmark or performance gain is claimed.

Why it matters

Ingestion systems and financial-feed processors could reduce CPU and allocation costs.

Search space

Schema specialization, SIMD-friendly scanning, fused validation and selective materialization.

What would count as progress?

  • Reference-parser agreement
  • malformed-input detection
  • exact numeric behavior
  • throughput
  • allocations.

A useful result improves a measured trade-off against strong baselines on held-out workloads, with reproducible code and documented limitations.

Baselines and boundaries

Compare simdjson or an equivalent strong parser and existing schema-aware tools. Define whether the entire input must be validated; skipping validation is not a fair speed improvement.

Where you could contribute

Help define representative, legally shareable workloads; critique the correctness contract; implement baselines; propose candidates; or reproduce measurements. Negative results and failure cases are useful contributions.
